Cooking Matters®, a program of Share Our Strength, is a cooking-based nutrition program. This innovative program provides a long-term solution to hunger and poor nutrition by demonstrating strategies to get the best nutrition possible on a limited budget.
These hands-on courses are taught by nutrition and culinary instructors who volunteer to teach nutrition, cooking, food-budgeting and shopping techniques. Additionally, groceries are provided for participants to take home at the end of class each week so that they can practice preparing the healthy recipes at home to share them with their families.
How To Get Involved
Cooking Matters volunteers have an opportunity to help ensure that the participants have a great class experience and are able to put the healthy habits they learn into practice at home. You can volunteer as a culinary or nutrition instructor, course manager or assistant, Spanish interpreter, store tour leader, or photographer. Register today.
